Matthew Richard Mills, 79, passed away peacefully Monday, January 9th surrounded by his wife Cynthia, and children Brooke, Ben and Sarah.

Born in New York City, NY in 1937 to Willis Nathaniel Mills and Esther Stehle Mills, he grew up in New Canaan, CT. He attended Kent School (1955), Yale University (B.A. Architecture, 1959) and University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Design (M.Arch, Cum Laude, 1965).

He proudly served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a founding partner of the architectural firm of Robinson Mills and Williams in San Francisco. He retired in 1999 to Pinehurst, NC. In 2012 he returned to Northern California.
